Rules cannot be written that can possibly address every instance of inappropriate dress, but here are some requirements.

• No ripped, soiled, stained, cut-off or see-through clothing.
• No t-shirts, cropped tops, tube tops or bra type tops, except in the pool and tennis areas.
• Undergarments (or private areas of skin) should never be visible.
• No sweat suits, cuf offs, jogging shorts, leggings, yoga pants or cargo shorts and cargo pants. All slacks and shorts must be worn at the waistline.
• Changing of any clothing must be done in a locker room. Changing of any clothing, including shoes, in the parking lot is prohibited.

• Men’s shirts must have sleeves and collars and be tucked in unless specifically made to be worn outside the pants or shorts (i.e. tropical shirts). A turtleneck or mock turtleneck is considered a collared shirt. Sweaters and Henley collared shirts are also acceptable.
• Tennis or running style shoes are not appropriate in any of the dining areas within the clubhouse. No shoes with cleats or like surfaces are allowed in the clubhouse.
• Women’s sleeveless or spaghetti strap dress or top that is part of an outfit is acceptable as long as it does not bare any midriff and is of a conservative cut.
• Mid-thigh length and Bermuda skirts and shorts are appropriate.
• After tennis and swimming, coming to the Clubhouse requires appropriate warm-up/cover up-attire and shoes. No swimwear allowed in the Clubhouse.
• Soft spike golf shoes are allowed in The Creek Pub and Locker Rooms only.
• Sport hats are permitted on the Patio, The Creek Pub and Locker Rooms only. The bill of the cap must be worn forward. Men are to remove hats in The Fireside Grille at all times unless medically required.

• To respect these special occasions, jackets are required and ties are recommended for all men 16 years and older.
• Appropriate attire for women includes: dresses, dinner suits, skirts and dress slacks with an appropriate top.

• Children under the age of 16 years old using the golf course must change shoes in the Halfway House, Cart Barn or Pool locker rooms.
• Soft spike shoes are required.
• Men’s golf shirts must have a 1" collar (mock turtlenecks are acceptable) and are to be tucked in at all times.
• Women’s sleeveless golf shirts must have a 1" collar.
• Sport hats must be worn forward.
• Shorts and golf skirts must be at least mid-thigh in length.
• Newer golf apparel sold by popular golf manufacturers will be allowed under the condition they are in keeping with our policy of appropriate dress codes. Any form of Jeans/Denim is strictly prohibited.
• Inappropriate attire includes: t-shirts, tank tops, sweat shirts, cargo shorts and cargo pants, jogging shirts, leggings, yoga pants, cut offs, tennis or swimming attire.
• Not all Clothing Sold in the Golf Shop is Golf Course Appropriate.

• Tennis shoes and tennis attire are required for play on all courts. White and/or colors are acceptable.
• No street shoes, swimsuits, cut-offs or jean shorts.
• Proper Jeans/Denim for spectators is acceptable around the tennis courts and in the Halfway House.

• Appropriate cover-up and shoes/sandals should be worn to and from the pool and in the parking lot.
• Swimwear is permitted at the pool and on the Pool Deck and should be worn in good taste. Jeans/denim are permitted at the pool.

Tennis

1. There is no charge to members.
2. All court reservations are to be made through the Tennis Office.
3. Singles play will be limited to one hour while others are waiting to play.
4. Doubles play will be limited to one hour while others are waiting to play.
5. Any player after completing singles or doubles will not be permitted back on the court for one half hour if there are other players waiting.
6. No court may be used until the member arrives at courtside, dressed and ready to play. When people are waiting, court changes will be made on the hour, depending on whether members are playing singles or doubles. A court may not be held by one person if others are waiting.
7. The regular guest rules of the Club shall apply to tennis playing guests. The host member must be present at all times when his/her guest(s) are participating in tennis.
8. The Club will provide a sheet of court assignments, posted daily.
9. No food or beverage is allowed on the courts.
10. No one may enter or cross courts when the ball is in play.
11. Non-players must remain outside the fenced area.
12. Complimentary towels will be provided on the court.
13. Water and cups will be provided on the court.
14. Children not old enough to be junior players (13-15 years) must get approval from the Tennis Pro to be on the courts without an adult.
15. Nets must remain at the height at which they are set and will be checked daily by the staff.
16. Admission to events will be denied if the dress code is not followed.
17. Any changing of apparel, including shoes, must be done in a locker room and will not be allowed in parking lot areas. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed in the Clubhouse locker rooms. Children under the age of 16 must change shoes in the Halfway House locker room.
18. Members are expected to exercise discretion, propriety and good taste in their dress at all times. Members are responsible for the attire of their guests.
19. Tennis shoes and regulation tennis attire are required for play on all courts. White and/or colors are acceptable.
20. No street shoes, swimsuits, cut-off jeans, tank shirts or jogging shorts are allowed.
21. The Club staff has jurisdiction on proper attire.

Pool

1. Hours: The pool is open for swimming from 11:00am to 8:00 pm, Tuesday through Sunday (closed on Mondays except for a Monday holiday). These hours are subject to change without notice. The pool is used from 9:00 to 11:00am Tuesday through Saturday for swim team practice (four practices per week, 1½ hours per practice). Sunday morning clinics are from 11:00am to 12:00 noon. Use of the pool during other hours is prohibited.
2. Walnut Creek Country Club assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property or injury to anyone.
3. The Board of Directors has given full authority to the Pool Manager and lifeguards to interpret and enforce all rules. Failure to comply with any rules shall be considered sufficient cause for immediate suspension of pool privileges for the offending member, at the discretion of the Pool Manager or General Manger. If the Pool Manager feels the seriousness of the situation warrants, he may request the General Manager and/or the Board of Directors to take further action.
4. The conduct of all members must be above reproach in all Club areas including shower rooms, parking areas, pool, eating area and office. Parents will be held responsible for the behavior of their children; therefore, parents are requested to caution their children that they must observe all rules and obey instructions of the Pool Manager and other employees. Members will be held responsible for the behavior of their guests.

Admittance to The Pool

1. To be left unattended, children between the ages of 8 and 12 must pass a swim test given by a pool staff member (this test will consist of swimming 25 meters without assistance). All children under the age of eight must be accompanied by a parent or adult member (adult guest permitted).
2. All guests must be properly registered by a Club member prior to admission to the Club facilities.
3. Children must be over the age of two and fully toilet trained in order to be permitted in the adult pool.

Day-to-day enforcement of the rules governing the use of the course shall be arbitrated by the Head Golf Professional, with the Starter being responsible for enforcing rules of dress. Appeals may be made to the Head Golf Professional if the player feels that he/she is not being treated fairly. Any further appeals should be taken to the General Manager, Golf Committee or Board of Directors in accordance with Club policies.

Online Tee Times can be made through our web site or on the Walnut Creek app.  Just click on the tee times tab and you will be directed to available tee times.  Another option is to call the starter’s booth at 248.437.3663. Tee times may be made four days prior to your desired date of play. Starting times can be obtained for any day, four days in advance (i.e. Saturday times after 10:00am can be obtained after 8:00am starting on the Tuesday prior). Inform the starter how many people will be playing in your group and their names. Upon arrival, please register all guests and inform the starter whether you will be taking a power cart, a pull cart, a caddie or walking. This important information will assist the staff in preparing for your arrival. 

Members are responsible for their guest’s adherence to course etiquette. Before playing, all players must register with the starter and register any guests. All junior golfers must present an approved junior card* and register with the starter before play. Member’s account numbers must be included on the register. Note: Member means any regular or senior member, the member’s spouse or the member’s children between their eighteenth and twenty-sixth birthday. Fivesomes are not permitted during the season (May 1st through October 1st). Fivesomes are permitted out-of-season with approval from the golf professional staff. It is every golfer’s responsibility to replace divots and fix ball marks. Lost and found equipment should be turned into the Golf Shop. Smokers are asked to dispose of smoking materials in waste containers.

The pace of play for 18-holes at Walnut Creek Country Club is based on four hours and twelve minutes, inclusive of Halfway House stop. Stopping for a sit-down lunch at the turn is prohibited. Please proceed to the tee when your order is ready. Slow players must allow faster players to play through. One or more empty holes in front of a slower group should be recognized as an opportunity to permit faster groups to play through. If the slower group does not extend this courtesy voluntarily, the faster group may ask to play through. Slow play affects everyone playing behind you. A conscious effort to play in a timely manner will make golf more enjoyable for everyone. Playing “ready golf” will greatly increase the speed of play and will not interfere with your fellow golfers. Ready golf is: minimizing your practice swings; being ready to hit when it’s your turn; when sharing a cart, the driver should drop off the other player at their ball or leave the cart and walk to their ball, instead of driving to each ball together; studying the line of your putt while others are putting; record scores at the next tee and; playing a provisional ball to save time on the possible lost ball or possible ball out of bounds. Rules and Policies for Guests: Members must sign a chit and register guest names with the starter. There must be a Walnut Creek Country Club member in each foursome unless the guest is a member of a recognized country club and has permission from the Golf Professional or Board of Directors. Guests will be allowed to play one time per month with the same Walnut Creek Country Club member. A maximum of two times per month is allowed for any guest. Out-of-town guests (residing outside a 60 mile radius of the Club) may play during restricted guest times with prior arrangements made through the Golf Professional. These arrangements must be made in writing.

Unmarried members, excluding Non-Golf members may, upon application to and approval of the Board of Directors, designate his or her domestic partner as a Special Guest. Such members may not designate a different person as a Special Guest in the same calendar year. The Special Guest shall not be related to said member, nor shall such Special Guest be a member of the Club in any Classification. The Board of Directors may, at its sole discretion, revoke the status of the Special Guest at any time without notice. There will be a Special Guest Golf rate of $5.00 per round. Special Guests may only use the Club’s facilities when the Member is present, may play in all mixed events and may receive a golf handicap. Special Guests may not play golf without a member in the group, may not receive a permanent locker and may not sign chits for any goods or services without a written authorization on file.

The range yardage signs are accurate to within one yard of each flag from the hitting area directly in front of the signs. Due to the ever-increasing demands on the Practice Facilities (driving range, putting green and short game area), the Board of Directors and the Golf Committee have set the following guidelines to determine priority of usage. Range priority during restricted hours of play: any group whose hours of play are in effect will have first priority. Juniors and Instructional League have priority

Tuesday until 11:00am;
Juniors-Friday until 8:00am
Women’s Leagues- Wednesday until 10:00am
Wednesday from 4:00pm-6:00pm
Thursday until 10:00am
Men’s Leagues- Tuesday from 5:00pm-6:00pm
Men- Saturday until 10:00am; tournaments and all special events.

Range priority during non-restricted hours of play: lessons; member priority is regular members and spouses; senior and intermediate members; approved juniors; unapproved juniors. If the range is full during non-priority times, members should allow others to practice after 15 minutes of usage. Juniors must always give way to an adult other than scheduled junior time.

Inappropriate attire includes: Blue denim, short shorts or skirts, t-shirts, tank tops, athletic shorts, tennis or swimming attire. Note: Not all clothing sold in the Pro Shop is golf course appropriate. 

A Junior is defined as any child of a Regular Member under the age of 18. Children reaching the age of 26 may either become Intermediate Members or guest policies will apply. If an 18 year old that is a Regular Member’s child is still attending high school, they are eligible for junior golf. Any Regular Member’s child 18 years of age or has graduated from high school and will be turning eighteen during that same year is eligible to play in regular member events if not participating in Junior Golf, with the exception of Invitationals.
No children under the age of seven will be permitted on the golf course at any time. Juniors with a card of approval from the Golf Professional may play during the hours permitted for approved junior play unaccompanied by an adult. Approval is based on skill level and knowledge of the game (three verified 9 hole scores of 70 or better from the white tees for boys and red tees for girls, and passing a written test). Unapproved juniors may play during the hours designated for them, and must be accompanied by an adult. Unapproved juniors and children under the age of seven must be accompanied by an adult while using all practice facilities.
The Junior Golf Course is open to children of non-golf members based on approval of the Golf Professional. Everyone who is playing the junior course must check in with the Golf Shop before playing. No power golf carts are allowed on the junior golf course. Priority of the junior golf course: 1) juniors up to the age of seven years; 2) eight and nine year-old children, only if they have never played golf before; 3) all others upon availability.

No one under the age of 16 years without a driver’s license is permitted to drive carts. Added caution must be used when the passenger is under the age of 16. No more than two people may ride in a cart.

Observe all cart directional signs. Brown posts direct traffic back to a cart path or 30 yards wide of greens. Brown posts are moveable obstructions.

All four tires should remain on the cart path at all times. Immediately report all accidents to the Golf Staff. No more than two golf carts, are allowed per foursome. General rule of thumb for proper use of sand bottles on carts; if the divot is deep with roots, replace it, if the divot is shallow with little or no roots, just fill it in with sand. Members or caddies are not allowed to stand on the cart or the back bumper while in motion.

Members are not allowed to park carts in front of the Clubhouse, pool area, parking lot or in front of the locker room. The parking lot remains restricted to all members even “orange flag” carts. Power carts are restricted to cart paths on all par three holes.
